Last night at church, we were disusing the letter of 1 John. We’ve been studying it for the last several weeks. Our discussion led to the topic of Knowledge, and the negative impact that it along with Gnostic teaching had on the early church community to which john wrote. Knowledge, you would think would be a good thing, but as we know, sometimes knowledge is bad. One of our ladies said, “Some people have just enough knowledge to be dangerous!” I believe she is right.

In the book “The Church On The Other Side,” McLaren writes of the present day church and its understanding of mission, “We know too much—so much that we can’t learn how much we need to learn.”

What must we unlearn so as to learn what we need to be missional in this present day?
