I reading a lot of blogs talking about the 08′ Olympics right now. We are just hours away from the opening and I can’t wait. Travis Holmes, a new church planter in Simpsonville, SC has a great thought on going for the gold. He writes:
” Most Christians think that stepping over the line of salvation is the finish line. The truth is that the line of salvation is the starting line. Most cross over and just sit down and wait for heaven. Most cross but then get side-tracked by their own agendas and routes. Others quit when the hills get too steep. But some, run the race of a lifetime. I want GOLD. What will it be for you? DNF (did not finish)? DQ? Or GOLD?”
A great statement and an even better question. We see and hear about so many, “believer,” that are DQ-ed and have DNF’s. Church leaders spend so much time cheering on and encouraging “believers” to continue on, that many times we lose focus of those who have never entered the race and desperately need what is available at the finish.
Run for the Gold/Goal and while you are running encourage those in the stands and on the sidelines to join the race.
